Certified translation FAQ

A few more answers
before you order.

Ask us a question
What is a certified translation?

It is a complete translation accompanied by a signed certification statement confirming its accuracy and completeness and the translator’s competence for the language pair. Requirements can vary by receiving institution.

What does the Certificate of Translation Accuracy contain?

It identifies the translated document and language pair and includes the certification statement, the representative’s details, and a signature. It accompanies your completed translation.

How much does certified translation cost?

Certified translation starts at $25 per billable page. Human translation, accuracy review, signed certification, and secure PDF delivery are included. Optional services add to the total.

How are pages calculated?

We compare word-based pages with physical document pages and use the higher count. A word-based page contains up to 250 words, with an allowance of up to 25 words on the final partial page. The physical page count still applies.

Does USCIS require notarization?

Generally, no. USCIS’s general translation rule requires a complete English translation and certification of accuracy, completeness, and translator competence. It does not add a notarization requirement. Follow the instructions for your specific filing.

What is the difference between certified and notarized translation?

Certification concerns the translation’s accuracy and completeness. Notarization concerns the signature on the certification; the notary does not independently verify the translation’s accuracy.

When do I need an apostille?

An apostille may be needed when a public document will be used abroad in a country where the Apostille Convention applies. Requirements depend on the document, issuing jurisdiction, and destination. Confirm the receiving institution’s instructions before ordering.

Do you translate stamps and seals?

Yes. All legible document text, including stamps, seals, headings, and annotations, is translated or appropriately identified. Illegible text is marked rather than guessed.

Can you follow the spelling on my passport?

Yes. Supply the relevant passport spelling with your order. We can use it for consistent English transliteration while preserving the information in the source and flagging discrepancies.

Do you preserve formatting?

We follow the source layout, headings, tables, and document structure as closely as practical. Translated text can take more or less space, so an exact visual reproduction is not always possible.

Can I request a correction?

Yes. Factual errors or omissions in our translation are corrected at no additional charge. Contact us with your order number and the details to review.

How quickly will I receive my translation?

Turnaround depends on language, length, readability, and complexity. Many short documents can be completed quickly. Expedited service adds 50% of the base translation price, but larger or complex documents may still need more time. Share your deadline before ordering.
