NOTARIZED TRANSLATION MADE SIMPLE
What’s Included in
Your Notarized Translation
A notarized translation starts with a complete certified translation and signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy. A commissioned notary then completes the appropriate notarial act for the certification signature. The notary handles the signer and signature; the translator or translation service remains responsible for the translation’s accuracy and completeness.

Notarization vs. apostille
Notarization and apostille
are different services.
Notarization concerns the certification signature. An apostille is a separate authentication used for qualifying documents intended for international use. If a foreign authority asks for an apostille, check exactly which document it wants authenticated.

Notarized translation FAQ
Frequently asked
questions.
The essentials about certified translation, notarization, apostille, pricing, and delivery.
Send them with your quote request and we can help identify the translation services they describe.
Request a QuoteWhat is a notarized translation?
It is a certified translation with an additional notarial act associated with the certification signature. The translator or authorized representative signs the certification; the commissioned notary completes the appropriate notarial formalities.
What is the difference between certified and notarized translation?
Certification addresses the translation’s completeness and accuracy and the translator’s competence. Notarization adds a separate formality concerning the signer and signature. It does not make the translation more accurate.
Does the notary check whether the translation is accurate?
No. The notary does not perform a linguistic quality review or independently compare the foreign-language text with the translation. The translator or translation service remains responsible for the translation and its certification.
Does USCIS require a notarized translation?
USCIS’s standard rule for foreign-language documents calls for a full English translation and certification of completeness, accuracy, and translator competence. Notarization is not part of that standard translation requirement. Check the instructions for your filing and any separate authority involved.
Why would someone request notarization?
Some receiving organizations or legal procedures specifically request a notarized signature on the translation certification. A document’s type alone does not establish that requirement. Follow the receiving organization’s written instructions.
How much does notarization cost?
Notarization adds $20 to a certified translation order. Certified translation starts at $25 per billable page. A one-billable-page translation with notarization totals $45 before any other optional services.
Is notarization the same as an apostille?
No. Notarization concerns a notarial act associated with a signature or record. An apostille is a separate authentication for qualifying public documents used abroad under the Apostille Convention. Neither establishes the linguistic accuracy of translated content. BabylonTranslate offers Apostille (+$180) and E-Apostille (+$75) only as add-ons to translation orders.
Do I need an apostille after notarization?
Possibly, if the receiving foreign authority requires one. Whether an apostille is appropriate depends on the destination, the document, and the issuing jurisdiction. Ask whether the authority needs an apostille on the translation certification, the original document, or both.
ONE ORDER. BOTH FORMALITIES.
Need the signature notarized?
We’ll handle both.
